Ecma International is an industry association that works on standardisation in information and communications technology (ICT) and consumers electronics.

The association works in cooperation with the national, European, and international organisations to develop standards and technical reports in order to facilitate and standardise the use of ICTs and consumer electronics. It also aims to encourage the correct use of standards by influencing the environment in which they are applied.

Since its creation, in 1961, Ecma has published more than 400 standards and 100 technical reports of high quality, more than two thirds of which have also been adopted as international standards and/or technical reports. These standards cover areas such as: data presentation and communication, data interchange and archiving, access systems and interconnection and multimedia, and software engineering and interfaces.
