The first Global Internet of Things Summit (GIoTS 2017) will take place on 6-9 June, in Geneva, Switzerland. The event is supported by the IoT Week of the IoT Forum, the IPv6 Forum, the IEEE 5G subcommittee, the IEEE SDN-NFV subcommittee, as well as the IEEE BiG Data technical committee.

AI for Good Summit

The AI for Good Summit will be held on 7–9 June 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland. The summit is organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the XPRIZE Foundation, in partnership with several United Nations agencies, including the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), and the United Nations Global Pulse.

The summit will be focused on exploring the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) innovation for society, and will showcase AI applications in addressing global challenges such as proverty, hunger, health, and gender equality. It will bring together representatives of government, industry, UN agencies, civil society and the AI research community to explore the latest developments in AI and their implications for regulation, ethics, and security and privacy. Breakout sessions will invite participants to collaborate and propose strategies for the development of AI applications and systems to promote sustainable living, reduce poverty and deliver citizen-centric public services.

WSIS Forum 2017

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Forum 2017 will be held on 12-16 June 2017, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The annual WSIS Forum is a global multistakeholder platform facilitating the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines for advancing sustainable development. The Forum is co-organised by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD, in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line co-/facilitators and other UN organizations (UNDESA, FAO, UNEP, WHO, UN Women, WIPO, WFP, ILO, WMO, ITC, UPU, UNODC, UNICEF, and UN Regional Commissions). It provides an opportunity for information exchange, knowledge creation and sharing of best practices, while identifying emerging trends and fostering partnerships, taking into account the evolving Information and Knowledge Societies.

The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) will hold a workshop on Statistical Data Dissemination and Communication, on 28-30 June 2017, at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva, Switzerland.

The workshop will focus on cutting edge ideas, new trends, experiments, and approaches in the areas of data dissemination and communication. The following substantive topics will feature in the programme: strategic communication planning; measuring success and impact of communication programs (key performance indicators, web and social media analytics, measurement strategies); visions in data dissemination (e.g. open data, automated processes, strategies); novel uses of social media (new channels, strategies, emerging trends); publishing and promoting digital content (automated publications, tools); presenting data in a simple way / Data visualisations (including geospatial data and maps); audience segmentation, personas, and tailoring messages; and press and news media: adapting to today's media landscape.
