Event dates: 15–19 May 2023
The second session of the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on lethal autonomous weapons systems (LAWS) convened in Geneva to ‘intensify the consideration of proposals and elaborate, by consensus, possible measures’ in the context of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW) while bringing in legal, military, and technological expertise.
Alongside the 5-day session, multiple side events organised by partners will also take place to elaborate on topics ranging from the application of international humanitarian law to automated decision research.
